Position Overview

This role involves the creation of mechanical system design packages for auxiliary gas turbine equipment, collaborating with external suppliers to manufacture the specified components, and ensuring compliance with codes, contracts, and timelines for Mitsubishi Power's energy projects across North and South America. The primary focus will be on the modularization of gas turbine equipment, particularly the GT Enclosure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze P&IDs and other technical documents to establish system interface requirements.
  • Conduct necessary calculations to ensure proper equipment sizing.
  • Draft inquiry and purchase specifications for mechanical components.
  • Evaluate and recommend vendors based on technical assessments.
  • Review vendor designs for adherence to codes, contracts, and internal standards.
  • Ensure that arrangement and foundation interface details meet specified requirements.
  • Conduct technical qualifications of vendors.
  • Specify and analyze test results.
  • Create standard drawings and specifications.
  • Identify and implement design enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for engineering deliverables.
  • Engage regularly with vendors to confirm that all technical and scheduling requirements are met.
  • Address technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Integrate design requirements from the parent company.
  • Establish processes to optimize resource use while delivering high-quality design packages.
  • Develop concepts aimed at reducing system costs.
  • Ensure that code requirements are accurately defined and integrated into system designs and vendor specifications.
  • Provide regular updates on project status to management.
  • Interpret customer contract technical requirements and ensure their incorporation into system designs.
  • Implement corrective actions to minimize nonconformance and enhance quality.
  • Prepare correspondence for vendors and other engineering teams.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; a Master's degree is advantageous but not mandatory. A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant technical experience is essential, with a preference for experience in structure fabrication/manufacturing or skid fabrication/manufacturing. Experience in power plants or international business is a plus.
  • Preferred Background: Ideal candidates will have a background in fabrication shops for skid manufacturing or EPC companies. Experience in modular design and/or skid/packaged equipment manufacturing is highly desirable. Additionally, experience in specifying rotating or packaged equipment is beneficial.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English is required. Candidates should also be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals in English. Knowledge of Japanese, Spanish, or Portuguese is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc.) is required. Familiarity with databases, project management tools, graphics, technical diagrams, and flow charts is also necessary.
