Job Summary

The Digital Video Associate Producer I - Originals is a key role within the ESPN team, responsible for the production and editing of high-quality narrative video content for various digital platforms. This position requires a strong understanding of digital media distribution and content creation, as well as excellent storytelling skills and creativity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Edit high-end original longform and shortform video content for ESPN's digital platforms, including YouTube, social media, and linear TV.
  • Collaborate with talent to develop and refine scripts for video content.
  • Create engaging graphics, including static and motion graphics, to enhance the visual appeal of digital content.
  • Conduct research in the media asset management system to obtain materials for production elements.
  • Develop and pitch ideas for future content elements on ESPN platforms.
  • Shoot video content in both studio and field environments, utilizing knowledge of lighting, camera, and audio techniques.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete delivery of multimedia elements, and publish to various digital platforms.
  • Write compelling titles and descriptions of videos, design thumbnail images, and add other elements to maximize the effectiveness of content on digital platforms.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to other editors on the team.
  • Analyze data to inform content creation and drive engagement.
  • Adhere to established production department procedures and protocols.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of sports, including current athletes, events, and storylines.
  • Proficiency in video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro, as well as Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.
  • Excellent storytelling skills, creativity, and passion for pitching and executing story ideas from ideation to publication.
  • Familiarity with the YouTube mediascape and other emerging digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated communication and organization skills, with the ability to react quickly and positively under various production situations.
  • Familiarity with ESPN programming and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Video shooting experience, including lighting, camera, and audio.
  • A minimum of 2 years in multimedia content production or related experience.
Education
  • High school diploma.
  • Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, communications, journalism, or a closely related field.
