About the Role:

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in all scrubbing responsibilities in compliance with HMH policies and AORN Recommended Standards of Practice.
  • Displays an understanding of surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how to care for surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies essential for the surgical procedure.
  • Maintains compliance with the following standards of practice including but not limited to the HMH Infection Control and OSHA requirements.
  • Understands the proper handling of surgical specimens in accordance with department and HMH policies and procedures.
  • Understands aseptic and sterile field management including but not limited to scrubbing, gowning, gloving, preparing the sterile field, and identifying breaks in sterility.
  • Assists the surgical team in the room turnover and preparation for the next surgical procedure.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, preceptorship of new team members, and other activities that will improve patient outcomes.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Graduated from an accredited education program for Surgical Technologists.
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully complete orientation and all associated competencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) unless exempt per NJ Surgical Technology Certification Law.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
  • Minimum of one year (1) of surgical scrubbing experience in an acute care setting.
