About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team at Hennepin County. As a key member of our oral health team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist chairside with diagnostic, oral surgery, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, pedodontics, and restorative procedures.
  • Perform expanded functions such as digital radiographs, impressions, and bite registrations; mechanically polish teeth, place sealants, and fabricate temporary crowns.
  • Deliver exceptional service to our patients and guests.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electronic dental records and other computer systems.
  • Maintain dental department areas in compliance with dental department directives and protocols, as well as clinic policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control, and safety issues.
  • Perform appointment scheduling, charting, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with periodontal charting, room turnover, and provide patient education.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited program as a Dental Assistant.
  • Possession of a valid license or eligibility for licensure as a Dental Assistant by the Minnesota Board of Dentistry; must pass the Dental Assistant exam within six months after employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing culturally sensitive care to patients of diverse ages, ethnicities, and countries of origin.
  • Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, prepare, clean, and properly handle dental equipment and instruments, and follow proper Infection Control and Health & Safety procedures.
