Key Responsibilities
  • Repair, install, and maintain plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Perform routine predictive maintenance activities to prevent unplanned breakdowns.
  • Observe and analyze the manufacturing process to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct visual inspections of the manufacturing line and communicate deficiencies to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Complete work orders as assigned and participate in the development of new work orders.
  • Participate in maintenance meetings and shift hand-offs to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Review log books from previous shifts to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Locate and identify spare parts using the CMMS system and store room inventory.
  • Perform lubrication on equipment according to plant standards.
  • Participate in the development of PMs and BDA's to improve maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Correct unsafe and quality issues promptly and participate in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Install, examine, inspect, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, PLC & PID controllers, and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using ladder diagrams, schematics, PID, and CMMS.
  • Cycle equipment or systems to ensure safe and correct operation and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Set up and safely operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drill presses, and milling machines to repair or fabricate parts as needed.
  • Maintain the maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion and keep work areas clean at all times.
  • Operate forklifts and other heavy machinery as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of the weekly maintenance work schedule with the Maintenance Supervisor and Operations team.
  • Provide insight on the scope of corrective work orders and order parts and materials to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist the Maintenance Planner, Team Leader, or Buyer and peers with accomplishing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance management to identify areas for scheduling work during downtime.
  • Participate in weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly predictive maintenance functions such as vibration analysis, infrared scans, and oil analysis to prevent unplanned breakdowns.
  • Prepare reports for the Maintenance team as necessary for compliance and budgetary requirements.
  • Assist with maintenance activities as needed but not limited to PMs and repairs.
  • Have a basic understanding of the wastewater system and perform required daily checks on plant utilities equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Electrical/Mechanical background necessary.
  • Apprenticeship program or technical background preferred.
  • Above-average computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • 3-5 years of experience with computerized CMMS work order system preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Procedures.
  • Work with vendors to ensure price and availability for maintenance operations.
  • Proactively communicate with maintenance, operations, and Plant Management in a cooperative and respectful manner to foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Support of Management Objectives and Policies.
  • Willing and available to work overtime if requested or needed by the Maintenance Management Staff.
  • Work willingly with co-workers and the management team to achieve department and company goals.
  • Support co-workers and management in carrying out daily maintenance responsibilities.
Job Specifications
  • Multi-craft/multi-skilled with expertise in electrical, electrical controls, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fabrication.
  • Working and practical knowledge of plant utility systems, including boiler systems, compressed air systems, water filtration, waste water treatment, and Refrigeration systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC's, VFD's, Servo's, and plant automation systems.
  • Working knowledge of National, State, Local building codes, OSHA, and standard industry safety rules/regulations.
  • Previous experience with industrial controls using Allen Bradley control platforms, Motor Controls (Servo and VFD) a definite plus.
  • Ability to work various shifts.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, mechanical and electrical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to fill out routine reports, correspondence documents, and to speak effectively when conveying information to other employees.
Computer Skills
  • Working knowledge of computer system input, retrieval, and use or the ability to learn in a reasonable training period.
  • Software including: Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project.
