Assistant Attorney General

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as an advisor to and attorney for Commonwealth entities exploring, procuring, and administering transportation and infrastructure projects through complex transactions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal counsel to Commonwealth entities on public-private procurements and public financing, including bonds and TIFIA loans.
- Advise executives on project financial terms and operational risk, and communicate complex legal issues to various stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other assistant attorneys general and outside counsel to deliver high-quality results.
- Work with agencies within the Transportation Secretariat and other Commonwealth entities to review, execute, and administer projects under the Public-Private Transportation Act and Public-Private Education Act.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, contractors, and other partners.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in complex commercial transactions, with a focus on public-private partnerships and public financing.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues to various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and results-oriented work.
- Admission to or eligibility for prompt admission to the Virginia State Bar.
- Experience working with government agencies, contractors, and other partners on public-private projects.
- Knowledge of public-private partnership laws and regulations, including the Public-Private Transportation Act and Public-Private Education Act.
- Ability to travel overnight, as needed.
