Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to enhance our Reconstruction team. In this role, you will be tasked with managing and documenting all stages of commercial and residential reconstruction projects. This includes receiving assignments from the mitigation department and coordinating with various stakeholders such as project managers, subcontractors, adjusters, and construction consultants. Your focus will be on ensuring adherence to specifications, maintaining quality, and keeping projects on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Communication: Collaborate with internal claims managers, estimators, permit expeditors, and construction project managers to ensure efficient job completion and effective client communication. Provide regular updates to upper management and project managers.
  • External Communication: Engage with occupants, property owners, adjusters, and subcontractors throughout the reconstruction process, providing daily updates and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Offer technical and engineering support to the team and coordinate with architects and engineers for timely responses to requests for information.
  • Time Management and Organization: Maintain and distribute current contract plans, timelines, and specifications. Utilize meetings and workflow coordination to meet deadlines and keep project files organized within company software.
  • Documentation: Track the progress of construction, demolition, and rehabilitation projects. Log photographs, daily reports, and notes as required, and document meetings and communications with clients and stakeholders.
  • Contract Management: Ensure all subcontractors and temporary labor are operating under appropriate agreements. Create repair agreements for client execution.
  • Billing Coordination: Work with the accounting department to progress bill projects according to payment terms and collaborate with the estimating department to provide supplemental estimates as needed.
  • Permitting Assistance: Support the process of obtaining necessary permits for projects and coordinate with external professionals to secure building permits.

You will report directly to the Senior Reconstruction Project Engineer and will primarily work onsite. Occasional visits to job sites may be required to assist with various tasks.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Project.
  • Customer service-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.
  • Honest and transparent in communication, especially when challenges arise.
  • Willingness to assist team members with tasks of any size.
  • Prior experience in emergency management, reconstruction, or insurance is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
