Responsibilities

  • Conduct a prompt, thorough, and fair investigation to determine coverage, origin, and extent of loss
  • Adjust moderately sized business interruption losses to ensure accurate loss cost estimates
  • Engage and manage consultants and independent adjusters to ensure timely and effective resolution of claims
  • Monitor costs to ensure reasonability and minimize risk
  • Establish and maintain accurate loss cost estimates and reserves to ensure fair and equitable settlements
  • Keep the Insured and others informed about the claims status
  • Effectively communicate in writing on coverage issues
  • Determine depreciation of claim to ensure accurate loss cost estimates
  • Affirm or deny coverage of claim based on policy terms and conditions
  • Negotiate settlement of claims to ensure fair and equitable outcomes
  • Keep electronic claim file properly documented to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Participate in quality assurance file review sessions to ensure compliance with fair claims handling requirements
  • Be prepared for catastrophe duty to respond to large-scale claims events

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of property insurance and commercial property claims to ensure accurate and effective claims handling
  • Insurance regulations to ensure compliance with fair claims handling requirements
  • Settlement of moderate complexity claims to ensure fair and equitable outcomes
  • Decision making skills to ensure timely and effective resolution of claims
  • Results oriented to ensure accurate and effective claims handling
  • Ability to build relationships with insureds, consultants, and other stakeholders
  • Capacity to mentor and train team members to ensure knowledge sharing and skill development
  • Manage projects and vendors to ensure timely and effective resolution of claims
