Position Overview: D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Project Manager for their Chicago Division - Schaumburg Main Office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for engineering tasks related to planning and design during the due diligence and land development phases for new residential construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist land acquisition teams by analyzing project concepts to develop strategies for site and product design on potential new acquisitions.
  • Oversee due diligence for new projects, ensuring adherence to contractual completion timelines.
  • Manage the collection of data for new projects, reviewing reports, drawings, maps, blueprints, aerial photographs, soil tests, terrain assessments, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geological information.
  • Prepare feasibility reports summarizing site conditions and documenting available utilities for each project.
  • Present recommendations to address site issues during land plan preparation.
  • Develop initial site development budgets.
  • Provide load demand forecasts to public utility companies for new developments.
  • Supervise the utility design process and determine the builder design portions for utility installation contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Land Department to manage consulting project engineers in the overall engineering design and approval processes for assigned projects.
  • Work with Land Acquisition staff to prepare proforma for corporate approval.
  • Conduct Land Development Budget Analysis, including risk and opportunity assessments.
  • Provide input to Land Development Project Managers regarding contract scope and pay scales.
  • Monitor current market pricing and collaborate with the Land Development Purchasing Agent.
  • Support Forward Planning and Land Development teams.
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to enhance customer satisfaction and the company's reputation.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervises one employee.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering.
  • Two to four years of relevant experience as an Engineer and/or training.
  • Proficiency in MS Project.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Proficient in MS Office and email communication.
  • Ability to sit for the majority of an 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers for tasks; reach with hands and arms; communicate effectively; and possess specific vision abilities including close and peripheral vision.
  • Noise level is generally moderate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Blue Beam, Autodesk C3D, or Arc-GIS is preferred.
