Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

The Cybersecurity Operations Specialist will be tasked with ensuring that the operational security posture of our information systems is upheld. This position requires close collaboration with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Security Officer (ISO). The individual will possess the expertise necessary to oversee the security operations of our systems, which includes but is not limited to:
  • Implementing and maintaining physical and environmental protection measures.
  • Managing personnel security and incident response protocols.
  • Conducting security training and awareness programs.
  • Developing and updating authorization documentation.
  • Monitoring compliance with security policies and procedures.
  • Assessing the impact of changes to the information systems and making recommendations to the ISSM.

Performance Expectations:

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Assist the ISSM in fulfilling their responsibilities.
  • Prepare and review security authorization packages.
  • Ensure proper procedures are in place for the sanitization and destruction of hardware and media.
  • Notify the ISSM of any changes that may affect the security authorization of the systems.
  • Conduct regular reviews of information systems for compliance with security standards.
  • Coordinate changes to hardware, software, or firmware with the ISSM.
  • Monitor recovery processes to ensure security features are functioning correctly.
  • Maintain current and accessible security documentation.
  • Collect and review audit records, documenting any anomalies.
  • Participate in required technical and security training.
  • Conduct self-inspections related to cybersecurity and provide support for system assessments.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and assist in implementing countermeasures.
  • Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards.
  • Support both internal and external customers in cybersecurity matters.
  • Conduct security impact analyses for configuration management changes.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous roles in System Administration, Network Administration, or as an Information Systems Security Officer.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must possess an active Public Trust clearance.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be required for security investigations and support duties.
