Job Description

At Tufts Medical Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist Lead to join our team. This is a key role in our Perioperative Services department, responsible for providing expert support to our surgical team and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the surgical team in preparing for and conducting surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and infection prevention practices throughout the perioperative experience.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that all specialty equipment and supplies are available for surgical cases.
  • Provide advisory supervision to section technologists and participate in the ongoing performance appraisal process.
  • Participate in the scheduling and training of other Surgical Technologists.
  • Conduct service-specific education and maintain collaborative working relationships with peers and colleagues.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a training program for surgical technology or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of healthcare experience, including 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood, and bodily fluids.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift patients and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to wear a protective lead apron for extended periods.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Expert knowledge of aseptic technique and infection prevention practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
  • Intermediate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span.
