Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team at Tufts Medical Center. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing medical and clinical support services to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures
  • Prepare and maintain operating room equipment and supplies
  • Participate in surgical counts and manage intraoperative medications
  • Manage surgical specimens and follow hospital policy
  • Decontaminate instrumentation and equipment, and maintain a safe and clean operating room environment
  • Assist with positioning patients and obtaining needed items during surgery
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection prevention practices
Working Conditions

The Surgical Technologist will work in a semi-restricted and restricted environment, with frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood and bodily fluids, extreme noise levels, radiation, lasers, and drastic fluctuations in ambient temperature.

The position requires frequent lifting and positioning of patients, materials, equipment, power tools, instruments, etc. and frequent contacts with patients, physicians, and nursing staff in the Operating Room.
