Position Overview

The City of Commerce City is thrilled to announce an opening for a Food and Beverage Supervisor at Bison Grill, situated within our Buffalo Run Golf Course. We seek a dynamic, approachable, and proactive individual to enhance our team and deliver outstanding service to our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure guests receive prompt seating and service while maintaining high food and service standards.
  • Develop weekly schedules for servers, bartenders, cart staff, and banquet personnel.
  • Support front-of-house staff during peak service times.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to bartenders, servers, and cart staff.
  • Conduct weekly safety training sessions.
  • Update the Point of Sale (POS) system with menu changes and specials.
  • Assist in the development and revision of menu items.
  • Engage with customers to gather feedback.
  • Facilitate bookings for parties and events.
  • Coordinate the reservation system with digital calendars.
  • Post weekly schedules for conference room usage.
  • Oversee training for bartenders, servers, and cart staff.
  • Manage liquor inventory, ordering, and cost control.
  • Collaborate daily with Golf Operations staff.
  • Ensure compliance with local and state regulations regarding food and beverage service.
  • Adhere to City and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations for menu and beverage enhancements.
  • Review and suggest improvements for operational processes.
  • Lead food and beverage service for private events, banquets, and tournaments.
  • Exemplify and promote City Values: Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, Respect, and Excellence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily responsibilities of servers, bartenders, cart staff, and banquet personnel.
  • Act in place of the Food & Beverage Manager when necessary.
  • Participate in the hiring and termination processes, including conducting interviews and managing onboarding and offboarding.
  • Provide regular feedback and conduct performance evaluations to foster staff development.
  • Mentor and motivate staff to achieve high performance standards.
  • Create procedures to ensure a safe working environment and promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure all customer interactions are conducted professionally.

Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 21 years old. A degree in Culinary Arts or related field is preferred, along with four years of experience in bartending and food service. Experience in a leadership role within a restaurant setting is advantageous. Equivalent combinations of training and experience may be considered.

  • Current Colorado Food Manager Certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Current Serve Safe Alcohol Certification or TIPS Certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Current Serve Safe Food Safety Certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire).

Skills and Abilities

  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, including extended hours as needed.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to follow directions.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to train and develop staff effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of cash handling and daily financial transactions.
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • May require driving a city or personal vehicle for business purposes.
  • Daily use of office equipment and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Occasional use of kitchen equipment and point of sale systems.
  • High physical activity level, including walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have visual acuity for reading documents and responding to inquiries.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and kitchen odors.
  • Flexible schedule with potential for on-call duties and after-hours events.
