RN - OR Circulating Position at Kaiser Permanente

As a Registered Nurse in the perioperative setting at Kaiser Permanente, you will utilize your clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. Under general supervision, you will collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide and evaluate nursing care for patients. Your responsibilities will include assessing, planning, directing, and implementing nursing care activities, as well as coordinating with other healthcare disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment: Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs. Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout hospitalization.
- Planning: Develop an individual nursing plan of care that is sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient. Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies. Develop patient teaching plans and document on care plans or teaching plans.
- Implementation: Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients. Bases nursing care on protocol in place for management of each patient. Correctly carry out the physician's plan of care and accurately document in the EMR.
- Evaluation: Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patient response to treatment. Participate in unit quality assurance activities.
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience circulating in an inpatient or ambulatory O.R. setting -or- passing or completion of preceptorship program from accredited school.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided)
- Basic Life Support
- Previous healthcare experience.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
- Two (2) years O.R. circulating and scrubbing.
- CNOR
- ACLS
- Pre-Op area
- IV skill
- Completion/certification from approved peri-op program
- Computer keyboarding skills.
