Your Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and enforce safety protocols in all animal habitats.
  • Guide the instruction of proper animal care techniques, training methodologies, and safety measures through hands-on involvement.

  • Manage staffing levels in animal areas through effective scheduling practices.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through constructive feedback, mentorship, and collaboration.
  • Participate actively in the design and conceptualization of new animal exhibits, tours, and experiences in collaboration with other departments.
  • Provide necessary resources for staff to meet animal care and Aquarist requirements, including educational materials and safety equipment.
  • Recognize and promote positive employee morale and motivation, assisting in performance evaluations and development plans.
  • Ensure exceptional guest relations and satisfaction.
  • Design and implement effective behavioral programs for animals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Success:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid state driver's license is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is necessary, with at least 2 years at a Senior 1 level.
  • SCUBA certification and the ability to pass an annual physical swim competency review are required.
  • Completion of CPR training is necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to swim and work in aquatic environments.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable with heights and exposure to various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work with protective gear and around chemicals.
  • Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Availability for varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
