Antenna Engineer

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space technology and exploring new frontiers. As an Antenna Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing cutting-edge antenna systems for our Starlink satellite constellation and Direct to Cell network.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop advanced antenna systems, including phased array and reflector products, to support next-generation satellite communications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate antennas into spacecraft and other systems, ensuring seamless performance and reliability.
  • Analyze in-field operational RF performance data to identify areas for improvement and optimize antenna design.
  • Contribute to the development of software and testing of digital beamforming systems to demonstrate full phased array functionality.
  • Perform design validation testing of prototype and production designs to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, such as electrical engineering or physics.
  • 2+ years of research or development experience in RF and antennas, with a strong understanding of electromagnetic theory and antenna design principles.
  • Proficiency in 3D EM simulation tools, such as CST, HFSS, or FEKO.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering or a related field, with a strong research background in RF or antennas.
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Python, C#, or MATLAB, and familiarity with RF circuit simulation tools, such as AWR or ADS.
  • Familiarity with antenna measurement techniques and tools, such as anechoic chambers or near-field EM measurements.
