Job Overview
Barnes & Noble College serves as a retail partner for numerous colleges and universities across the nation. Our unique retail environment is dedicated to providing essential educational materials, tools, and merchandise tailored to the dynamic needs of the academic community.
Our teams engage directly with a diverse customer base, including students, faculty, administration, alumni, and the general public, ensuring exceptional customer service while facilitating the sale or rental of books, general merchandise, and a variety of technology products and services.
Our stores offer a wide range of products, from textbooks and trade books to technology, school supplies, apparel, regalia, and food—catering to the desires of college students, the needs of their families, and the requirements of our faculty. Seasonal employees may work in various departments and are typically scheduled to support peak periods or special events throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome customers, respond to inquiries, and assist with merchandise or service purchases.
- Organize, shelve, and maintain an attractive sales floor by arranging and cleaning product displays.
- Process sales transactions accurately, including cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
- Seasonal roles require availability during peak times, including semester openings and closings, occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent movement throughout the store to access various departments and products.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
- Regular lifting of merchandise.
- Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Qualifications:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Energetic and friendly demeanor with strong communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse audience.
- Exceptional customer service abilities to connect customers with suitable products.
- Basic skills in mathematics, keyboarding, and data entry.
- Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
