Counter Server

Job Summary

The Counter Server is a key member of our food and beverage team, responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced café or counter service environment. As a Counter Server, you will work closely with our team to ensure seamless service, maintain a clean and safe dining space, and provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate POS system and handle cash/credit transactions with accuracy and efficiency
• Prepare and serve food and beverage items to guests, ensuring high-quality presentation and timely delivery
• Maintain a clean and safe dining space, including wiping tables and chairs, discarding trash, and stocking table top guest supplies
• Participate in preparation, safe handling, and service of food products according to health codes, laws, and company specifications
• Provide responsible alcohol service to guests, adhering to company policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work environment through cleaning and organization, including storage areas, dining areas, restrooms, and kitchen equipment
• Safely use a knife and demonstrate consistency with knife cuts
• Safely operate and train others on the operation of various kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, and soup kettles
• Report any problems with food product, kitchen equipment, work area, dining space, and exterior of building to a Chef/Manager and make them aware of guest comments and concerns
• Assist with storage of food, beverage, and wood deliveries
• Assist in keeping exterior spaces safe and clean, including placing ski racks, snow removal, and moving deck furniture

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• Understanding of oral or written directions in English is required
• Basic computer and math skills required
• High School graduate preferred
• Prior guest service experience is preferred
• Prior work experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred
• TIPS Certification preferred
• Ability to ski or ride at an intermediate level is required for employees of ski-in/ski-out restaurants in winter

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The Counter Server will work in a fast-paced café or counter service environment, requiring the ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk, or be on their feet for extended periods. They will regularly work in wet, hot, and humid conditions and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces. The position requires the ability to continually lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
