Join Our Team as a Product Design Engineer

We're seeking a talented and creative individual to help iFixit deliver exceptional repair experiences. As a Product Design Engineer, you'll collaborate with our engineering team to develop innovative repair products and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to iFixit's innovation-driven NPI process, driving the development of advanced tools and parts that empower DIY enthusiasts.
  • Design and develop repair products and procedures, ensuring precision and quality.
  • Oversee product lifecycles, identifying areas for improvement and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with quality and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product development.
  • Develop impactful design documentation, including proposals, memos, and presentations.
Requirements:
  • A technical degree related to consumer product design or relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools, specifically 3D design (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and 2D design communication skills.
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industrial design generation and evidence of customer-focused engineering.
  • Engineering Design Communication skills: RFQ Packages, design Documents (proposals, memos, presentations).
  • Knowledge of DFM and DFA methods and constraints.
  • Experience with product lifecycles, BOM management, and revisions.
  • Experience in consumer electronics design.
  • Hands-on experience with tools and repair.
