About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology. As a key member of our enterprise IT solutions team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and efficient systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Enterprise IT Solutions: Provide expertise in Microsoft's SCCM/MECM to ensure the security and integrity of our clients' systems.
  2. System Administration: Administer SCCM software delivery, manage client health, and troubleshoot complex system hardware and software issues.
  3. Technical Leadership: Develop advanced technical solutions for network, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.
  4. Training and Development: Develop training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
  5. Implementation Planning: Develop implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  6. System Monitoring and Tuning: Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  7. Data Integrity and Security: Ensure workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
  8. Backup and Recovery: Lead efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  9. System Audits and Compliance: Conduct advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  10. Performance and Security Planning: Develop performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users.
  11. Team Leadership: Coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals, and serve as a team or task lead as needed.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related scientific or technical discipline required. Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related disciplines preferred.
  2. Experience: 17+ years of experience in a related field.
  3. Technical Skills: DoD 8140/8570 IAT II compliance.
  4. Security Clearance: Active Top Secret with a T5 or T5R within the last 5 years.
  5. Skills and Abilities: Strong oral and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and strong problem-solving skills.
  6. Preferred Skills: Experience with Microsoft Server 2022.
