The
Sanitation Operations Manager (3rd shift) is expected to have a thorough understanding of the Food Safety Statement, complete all necessary training, execute work tasks in alignment with training, and demonstrate a satisfactory level of proficiency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training protocols.


Training areas related to food safety will encompass, but are not limited to:

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Listeria control, Food Safety and Quality Statement, FSSC 22000/Global Food Safety Policy/Food Safety Goals, Visitor/Food/Site Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Bloodborne Pathogens.



Additional responsibilities will include:
Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's), Chemical Handling, Listeria Policy, and Proper Shovel Handling.

The Sanitation Operations Manager will also pursue additional and/or refresher training as deemed necessary to effectively fulfill responsibilities in specific areas.


Summary:

The Sanitation Operations Manager leads the Sanitation Leads, Coordinators, and teams in all aspects of Sanitation. He/she ensures adherence to Fresh Express food safety and sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees the activities of contracted sanitation personnel to ensure compliance with Fresh Express Sanitation standards.
  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations of sanitation processes and practices.
  • Reviews and updates SSOP's as necessary.
  • Assesses and modifies the Master Sanitation Schedule as required.
  • Updates FSSC documentation as necessary (in accordance with FSSC procedures).
  • Analyzes Sanitation/Quality Assurance assessments and audits (preoperational inspections and swabs) of sanitation operations.

  • Manages sanitation supplies and chemical inventories.
  • Facilitates team training and process enhancements.
  • Provides the Maintenance Manager with reports on any equipment damage.
  • Assists in training on the proper and safe handling of sanitation chemicals.

  • Participates in preoperational meetings, summarizing departmental issues or concerns.
  • Aids in Food Safety/HACCP/GMP and customer audits.
  • Undertakes other assignments as required and directed.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Familiarity with FSSC 22000 or equivalent systems.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing sanitation.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Food Sanitation facility in a Leadership/Supervisory role.

Education/Training:

A minimum of a B.S./B.A. Degree in Food Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related technical field.
