Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Policy Manager to join our team at The Center for Black Educator Development. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing our policy agenda, working closely with our Director of External Affairs and CEO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development: Develop and manage our organizational policy strategy, aligning it with our broader objectives and ensuring it is informed by research and data.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, district leaders, education organizations, and other key stakeholders to advance our policy initiatives.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research on relevant policies and create persuasive talking points for our CEO, facilitating informed decision-making and advocacy.
  • Grant Writing and Fundraising: Secure vital resources to support our organizational initiatives, demonstrating the ability to identify and pursue funding opportunities.
  • Communication and Advocacy: Utilize deep knowledge and understanding of the political landscape and process to proactively identify windows of opportunity for policy change, and represent our organization at relevant events and meetings.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in a relevant field, such as education, public policy, economics, or sociology.
  • Experience: Proven track record in policy, government relations, advocacy, and/or community organizing, preferably with specific experience related to education policy or advocacy.
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an emphasis on conveying detailed information to policymakers and other relevant stakeholders; proven experience in project management, strategic planning, and implementation; familiarity with basic quantitative methods of analysis and statistical analysis software.
