We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Hardware Engineer to lead and drive successful execution of development projects across mechanical, electrical, and hardware disciplines. As a Lead Hardware Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers and partners while leading and driving successful execution of complex hardware development projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of hardware engineers, providing guidance, direction, and feedback.
  • Project Management: Manage coordination with external vendors for fabrication and assembly of production versions of multiple products, and pre-production prototypes of emerging products. Identify and vet new external vendors as needs arise.
  • Communication: Communicate project status, issues, and requirements with stakeholders and higher management.
  • Project Planning: Create project plans and schedules, manage team tasks, and ensure milestones are met on time.
  • Design and Development: Assist with the design and development of system components used in high-resolution imaging systems.
  • Validation and Testing: Validate and test all designs to ensure functionality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure adherence to all necessary quality and compliance standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the software development team to ensure smooth integration of hardware and software.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience. Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in hardware design, preferably involving STM32 microcontrollers.
  • Location: Located in Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate.
  • Project Management: Planned and managed multiple projects from start through to completion with ultimate accountability for all final deliverables and schedules.
  • Team Leadership: Lead engineering teams.
  • Contractor Management: Experience managing contractors for fabrication and assembly of electromechanical products.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel.
