About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Hardware Engineer to join our team. As a Lead Hardware Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of our electromechanical systems, working closely with our software development team to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of hardware engineers, providing guidance, direction, and feedback
  • Manage coordination with external vendors for fabrication and assembly of production versions of multiple products, and pre-production prototypes of emerging products
  • Identify and vet new external vendors as needs arise
  • Communicate project status, issues, and requirements with stakeholders and higher management
  • Create project plans and schedules, manage team tasks, and ensure milestones are met on time
  • Assist with the design and development of system components used in high-resolution imaging systems
  • Validate and test all designs to ensure functionality, efficiency, and safety
  • Ensure adherence to all necessary quality and compliance standards
  • Collaborate closely with the software development team to ensure smooth integration of hardware and software
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience. Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hardware design, preferably involving STM32 microcontrollers
  • Located in Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate
  • Planned and managed multiple projects from start through to completion with ultimate accountability
  • Lead engineering teams
  • Experience managing contractors for fabrication and assembly of electromechanical products
  • Willingness to travel
