Position Summary

Objective:

To embody, advocate, and fulfill the Vision, Values, and Mission of United Petroleum Transports, while contributing to the annual objectives set forth by the ownership. Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion safety in all undertakings.
  • Conduct monthly analyses of balance sheet accounts and ensure timely and precise reconciliations.
  • Perform monthly budget versus actual comparisons.
  • Assist in the formulation of the annual budget and monitor budget discrepancies by Cost Center.
  • Analyze and review various general ledger expense accounts.
  • Record necessary journal entries monthly.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the company's fixed asset records.
  • Prepare reports mandated by regulatory bodies.
  • Support the completion of month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with external auditors, preparing multiple schedules and analyses.
  • Compile a monthly financial package, encompassing balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
  • Review monthly financials with the Controller and CFO, investigating identified variances.
  • Assist the Controller with cost accounting tasks.
  • Prepare and/or authorize ACH and wire payment transactions.
  • Identify potential process enhancements to benefit the department and the organization.
  • Maintain prepaid schedules and allocate expenses appropriately.
Additional Duties:

Execute tasks assigned by the Controller as necessary.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive understanding of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax, and banking.
  • Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Adept at identifying and resolving issues promptly, with the ability to gather and analyze information effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently, developing realistic action plans.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Capable of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Show reliability through consistent attendance and adherence to schedules.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including spreadsheet skills.
  • Familiarity with fundamental company employment policies and procedures.
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, manual dexterity, repetitive motions, and auditory and visual activities.
  • Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • Standard office setting. This role typically utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and copiers/printers/scanners.
