The Lead Operations Administrator position at Houston Methodist is a key role in providing operational oversight and leadership throughout the organization. This position is responsible for leading initiatives as directed by management, overseeing the Labor Pool, and ensuring timely decisions that directly impact patient care.
Key Responsibilities- People Essential Functions:
- Participate in the interviewing process of candidates for the Operations Administrator position, coordinate the orientation schedule of newly hired OAs, and collaborate in the preparation of annual evaluations.
- Train new employees hired for the Operations Administrator role, assign available personnel, and assess triage assignments.
- Role model fair and consistent leadership skills, support policy adherence, and provide disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Role model interprofessional communication, assist with staff stress management, and drive improvement of initiatives for department scores.
- Service Essential Functions:
- Coordinate and expedite the admission/discharge, transfer, and bed control process to optimize patient flow.
- Provide oversight and scheduling of the Labor Pool, oversee hospital operations during shifts, and manage administrative issues effectively.
- Troubleshoot problems and issues regarding patient/family care, visitors, and facility issues on off-shifts and weekends.
- Quality/Safety Essential Functions:
- Monitor and analyze work methods, staff scheduling, and make adjustments to assure a high level of service quality and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain awareness and responsiveness of emergency codes and disaster preparedness, coordinating critical situations.
- Participate and/or lead department process improvements.
- Finance Essential Functions:
- Attend daily care coordination rounds to facilitate patient progression, manage bed closures, and staffing allocation/cancellations.
- Provide oversight of the department schedule and timekeeping, implement department strategies to achieve financial targets, and mentor others.
- Measure and analyze resource allocation based on department and organizational needs, identify cost-saving or revenue opportunities.
- Growth/Innovation Essential Functions:
- Generate and communicate new ideas to lead teams to creative strategies that improve quality or service and impact the facility and address organization or department priorities.
- Participate in hospital quality, service, and shared governance councils, support change initiatives, and adapt to unexpected changes.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing.
- Five years of hospital experience in nursing, with four years of experience in nursing demonstrating progressive leadership abilities.
- One year of HM Operations Administrator experience.
- RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days.
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
- NVCRISIS - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI).
- Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification.
