What will you do as a PMC Network Admin

As a PMC Network Admin, you will serve as an essential part of the patient's experience by maintaining and administering our company's computer networks. This includes planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. You will also ensure the security and integrity of the network, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. The duties include designing the basic computing infrastructure to accomplish key tasks, establishing networking rules for cybersecurity and troubleshooting network errors or other technical issues.

Monitor windows, network and backup infrastructure to maintain uptime and performance. Must be available for DR and other system downtimes regardless of the hour or day.

As a network administrator, you will be instrumental in maintaining and improving our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting our business operations and contributing to our overall success.

A day in the life of a PMC Network Admin may include:
  • Network Installation and Configuration:
    • Designing and deploying functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, SDWAN).
    • Installing and configuring Fortinet network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.).
    • Establishing connections, ISPs and firewalls.
  • Network Maintenance and Support:
    • Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
    • Monitoring network performance and ensuring system availability and reliability.
    • Monitoring system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Network Security:
    • Securing network systems with policies that define and manage access rights.
    • Monitoring network usage for security breaches.
    • Conducting periodic security audits, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
    • Troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
    • Configuring and troubleshooting issues related to TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NPS, RADIUS, and other network protocols.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Documenting network configuration and operational procedures.
    • Providing network status reports to management.
    • Provide high level support for business aligned systems and applications in conjunction with level 2/3 resources. This will require being available for 24/7 support as needed for business impacted outages and/or upgrade requirements.
    • Work directly with IT and operations members on project delivery.
    • Mentor and train other IS staff members. Provide updated communication to those teams with respect to infrastructure status and projects.
    • Provide support to complex projects from a technical aspect and provide guidance and direction to less experienced technical staff on long-term, larger-scale projects.
    • Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and software packages.
    • Utilize software and hardware tools to identify, analyze, and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting performance.
    • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
    • Diagnoses and debugs technically complex software in networked and virtualized environments.
    • Participates in the staging/decommissioning, design, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of the server and storage infrastructure.
    • Participates in the development and compliance of platform standards, license compliance and operating procedures.
    • Maintains adequate systems documentation to comply with regulatory and cross functional training and support needs.
    • Works closely with other groups within the Information Systems team as part of the organization's change management, incident, and service management processes.
    • Interface with vendors to identify upgrades and other potential solutions.
    • Work independently and receive minimal guidance on work assignments. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
    • Work on and/or lead complex assignments and/or projects.
    • Solve problems of a complex and/or diverse scope, often taking a new perspective using existing solutions and performing analysis of data that requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
    • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
    • Function as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
    • Supports regular production systems when DR activities are not taking place.
    • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
    • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a network administrator or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with networking hardware (Fortinet, Cisco, etc.) and software (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing and subnetting.
  • Strong understanding of network security practices and protocols (e.g., SSL/IPsec, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


Shift: Day Shift (Monday through Friday) On-call and after-hours activities will be required for this role.
Pay Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
