Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee operations and maintenance departments to ensure compliance with established operating plans and applicable laws.
  • Assist the General Manager in controlling operating costs and developing strategies to effectively manage current and future challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop and utilize key metrics to analyze operations, reducing redundancies and streamlining company operations where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and deal with employee representatives regarding questions or disputes.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing budgets and plans for equipment and staffing.
  • Regularly review and understand the company's financial statements.
  • Ensure positive customer service and maintain relationships with existing customer base, including local agencies and city councils.
  • Abide by federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and ensure compliance with safety & health, environmental, human resources, financial, and other applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Represent the company in the business community and in regulatory matters to maintain goodwill and understanding of company practices and financial requirements.
  • Work closely with and support company management and other departments on company initiatives.
  • Provide leadership to employees and promote positive employee morale.
Requirements:
  • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
  • Related management experience in waste, transportation, or related field.
  • Principles of personnel training, supervision, and evaluation.
  • Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning, and budgeting.
  • Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.
  • Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications, and programs in position-related area.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
