Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal counsel on state and federal regulatory issues, ensuring the company's interests are effectively represented.
  • Identify and assess legal, business, and regulatory risks, offering steps to comply and mitigate risk.
  • Prepare and review written legal documents, providing legal analyses, interpretations, and recommendations.
  • Represent and advocate for PGE's interests to governmental agencies, counter-parties, and third parties.
  • Select and oversee outside counsel to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal representation.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • At least two years of experience in private practice, in-house, or government, with a focus on electricity or natural gas state regulatory, litigation, or FERC matters.
  • Admitted to the Oregon State Bar or able to be admitted within six months of employment.
Competencies
  • Intermediate knowledge of particular laws, regulations, and legal practice in multiple practice areas.
  • Working skills in identifying risk, problem-solving, and strategic thinking in non-routine operations and ambiguous situations.
  • Intermediate skills in distilling complex legal concepts and issues in a manner to make them understandable to non-legal specialists.
  • Working skills in understanding and supporting the technical needs of a regulated utility and advocating for the company to advance its position or interests.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position that requires working in an office environment with occasional travel within the PGE service territory. PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements, with a combination of in-the-office and working offsite.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $112,243.60. Actual total compensation, including a performance-based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity.
