Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Manufactured Structures Representative. This role will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations governing manufactured housing, modular building construction, and prefabricated building construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce state and federal regulations governing licensing of manufactured home dealers and installers, industrialized modular buildings, and prefabricated buildings codes.
  • Perform field inspections and plan reviews on projects regulated by the Construction Codes and Licensing Division.
  • Administer the provisions of the State Building Code, specifically those relating to manufactured housing, modular building construction, and prefabricated building construction.
  • Provide consultative support and educate staff, consumers, and stakeholders regarding licensing and administration requirements related to manufactured homes, prefabricated buildings, and industrialized/modular structures.
Requirements
  • Four years of experience working in the construction industry, including experience performing field inspections and/or plan reviews on projects regulated by the Construction Codes and Licensing Division.
  • Must obtain a State of Minnesota Building Official certification within twelve months of hire.
  • Knowledge of MN State Building Code as it pertains to public buildings and state-licensed facilities.
  • Understanding of the operation of state, local, and federal governments and their relationships.
  • Analytical skills to review material for relevance, accuracy, correlation, and completeness.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Industrialized Building Commission certification (IBC) for Plans Examiner or Building Inspector.
  • Current International Codes Council (ICC) certification and ability to acquire IBC certification within two years from date of hire.
  • Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen, or ASL).

We offer a hybrid work schedule, which includes telework days and in-office days at a DLI office building. This position is designated for hybrid work, allowing employees to work a portion of the time remotely with a regular schedule of time at the designated office.
