Role Overview: As a key member of our Credits, Incentives, and Methods (CIM) division, you will play a vital role in delivering tax consulting and advisory services. Your focus will be on the timing of revenue recognition, expense allocation, capitalization, cost recovery, and inventory accounting, influenced by regulatory changes, tax optimization strategies, liquidity considerations, or transaction preparations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee AMP projects, collaborating with Washington National Tax office (WNT) AMP specialists, covering areas such as revenue and expense recognition, inventory accounting, and strategic method reviews.
  • Manage the execution of AMP projects, including 481(a) adjustments and IRS exam support, while guiding teams of 2-5 professionals.
  • Possess a strong understanding of financial accounting standards (GAAP; IFRS) and stay updated on current financial accounting pronouncements.
  • Conduct thorough research and review tax advice and position memorandums in collaboration with WNT team members.
  • Evaluate technical memoranda, legal disclosures, and responses to IRS inquiries in conjunction with WNT experts.
  • Initiate and develop innovative service offerings in partnership with WNT.
  • Act as an industry expert by staying informed about regulatory changes and enhancing your skills through continuous education and certifications.
  • Identify and pursue AMP service opportunities for both existing and potential clients, working closely with RSM's Growth Acceleration Teams.
  • Foster relationships across teams and business lines, collaborating with RSM's Enterprise Account Leaders.
  • Mentor and develop RSM professionals, from interns to senior levels.
  • Build strong rapport with RSM Managers, Senior Managers, and Partners/Principals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • CPA or JD designation is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a successful track record in practice development and project management.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations, which may require overnight stays, up to 25% of the time.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively within teams and with clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field; MBA, JD/LLM.
  • 5+ years of experience in tax accounting methods and inventory.
  • Experience in a national accounting firm within a specialized practice area.
