Position Overview: Center Medical Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness to donor needs.
- Establish rapport with donors to foster long-term relationships and enhance donation experiences.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and medical history assessments to select appropriate plasmapheresis donors, adhering to FDA-approved procedures and state regulations.
- Educate donors about potential health risks and administer consent forms.
- Provide insights on health trends identified during donor assessments.
- Offer counseling to donors regarding any unacceptable test results.
- Manage donor injuries and adverse events with professionalism.
- Evaluate medical histories and medications to confirm donor eligibility.
- Ensure accurate and complete donor medical records prior to donation.
- Review donor screening tests to maintain eligibility standards.
- Assist in training staff on medical standard operating procedures as needed.
- Support the administration of the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program.
- Maintain necessary supplies for job functions.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas between donor visits.
- Uphold confidentiality for both donors and staff.
- Report any unsafe conditions to management promptly.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be certified and licensed as a Basic or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (or equivalent) in the state of employment.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience in providing medical care and patient assessment is required; experience with plasma or whole blood is preferred.
Attributes:
This role involves working in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential infectious agents. Personal protective equipment is necessary, and tasks may require standing or sitting for extended periods. The position also demands physical agility, including bending, twisting, and manual dexterity.
