Role Summary
As a Patient Services Associate, you will be instrumental in the patient admission process, particularly in the Emergency Room setting. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that patients receive outstanding healthcare services.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring availability Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, with rotating weekends.
Compensation
The salary for this position is $21.00 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
As a Patient Services Associate, your duties will include:
- Welcoming patients upon arrival, confirming appointment details, and alerting nursing staff as per established protocols.
- Assisting new patients with the completion of necessary registration forms.
- Updating and verifying patient information (demographic, financial, and clinical) in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Scanning and organizing patient documents, including forms and insurance cards.
- Coordinating future appointments based on various factors such as procedure type and provider availability.
- Handling incoming and outgoing phone calls, ensuring proper routing of patient inquiries in line with triage protocols.
- Managing patient referrals and securing insurance authorizations as required.
- Processing payments, issuing receipts, and maintaining daily cash drawer accuracy.
- Overseeing patient flow from the lobby to examination rooms, ensuring timely service and addressing any delays.
- Providing exceptional assistance to patients and their families, maintaining composure in challenging situations.
- Communicating with patients who missed appointments, following established guidelines.
- Receiving and directing deliveries of medical and office supplies.
- Performing general administrative tasks such as document preparation, scanning, and filing.
- Maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
- Utilizing relevant technology and software to enhance productivity.
- Creating and maintaining electronic files as necessary.
- Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills and collaborating effectively with colleagues and external partners.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a minimum of one year of experience in customer service or a medical office setting. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while an associate degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
