Position SummaryWe are looking for a seasoned Senior Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This role presents an excellent opportunity to further your career while collaborating with prestigious clients on a diverse range of commercial construction projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a key player, you will:
- Serve as the primary contact for reporting the overall commercial status of projects, ensuring precise and timely cost reporting at both project and portfolio levels.
- Manage the change process and negotiate change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engage professionally with various stakeholders, including general contractors and owners' representatives, ensuring effective coordination within the construction process.
- Conduct forensic reviews of costs and perform valuations on high-value, time-sensitive projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost checks and monthly valuations.
- Extract and transform data from complex spreadsheets to meet operational needs.
- Participate in managing post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
- Oversee cost impact assessments, contingency management, and commitment tracking logs.
- Prepare funding presentations and coordinate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills and mentor team members effectively.
- Provide commercial insights during design optioneering and value engineering exercises.
- Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading negotiations to secure fair contract prices.
- Complete procurement and bid comparison sheets, along with recommendations for approval.
- Act as the primary contact for overall commercial and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle, including cash flow forecasting and reporting.
- Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
- Implement agreed commercial processes and procedures, contributing to continuous improvement.
- Manage cost auditing and valuation work, ensuring robust validation processes are in place.
- Produce monthly cost and project status reports for client presentations.
- Facilitate timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts, maximizing client value.
- Assist in compiling as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure proper project closeout procedures are followed.
- Proven experience in a construction cost management role within the industry.
- Degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
- RICS accreditation or progress towards it is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Hybrid in-office and onsite work is required.
- Experience leading cost and commercial management teams on medium to large construction projects of varying complexity.
- Strong understanding of construction industry legal and technical matters, including procurement routes and contract types.
- Good knowledge of technical aspects of the construction industry, such as value management and engineering.
The salary range for this full-time position is $140K-$160K per year. This range reflects base salary only and may vary based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
