Position SummaryWe are looking for a seasoned Senior Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to enhance your career while collaborating with prestigious clients on a diverse range of commercial construction projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a key player in our team, you will:
- Serve as the primary contact for the overall commercial status of projects, ensuring precise and timely cost reporting at both project and portfolio levels.
- Oversee and manage the change process, including negotiating change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate professionally with various stakeholders, including general contractors and external parties, ensuring effective coordination within the construction process.
- Conduct forensic reviews of costs and perform valuations on high-value, time-sensitive projects, ensuring accurate monthly valuation processes.
- Extract and analyze data from multiple sources, transforming it to meet operational needs.
- Engage in post-contract cost variances and change control processes effectively.
- Manage cost impact assessments, contingency management, and commitment tracking logs.
- Prepare funding data presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and mentorship capabilities to team members.
- Provide commercial insights during design optioneering and contribute to value engineering exercises.
- Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading negotiations to ensure fair contract pricing.
- Prepare procurement and bid comparison sheets, along with recommendations for approval.
- Act as the primary contact for all commercial and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle, including cash flow forecasting.
- Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
- Implement necessary commercial processes and procedures agreed upon with clients, while promoting continuous improvement.
- Oversee cost auditing and valuation work, ensuring a robust cost validation process is in place.
- Prepare monthly cost and project status reports for client presentations.
- Facilitate timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts to maximize client value.
- Assist in compiling as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to adhere to proper project closeout procedures.
- Proven experience in a construction cost management role within the industry.
- Degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
- RICS accreditation or progress towards it is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Hybrid working model required, with both in-office and onsite presence.
- Experience leading cost and commercial management teams on medium to large construction projects of varying complexity.
- Strong understanding of legal and technical aspects of the construction industry, including procurement routes and contract types.
- Good knowledge of technical matters such as value management and engineering.
The salary range for this full-time position is $140K-$160K per year, reflecting the base salary only and subject to the candidate's experience and qualifications.
