Position Overview

The Director of Luau Operations is accountable for the strategic leadership and management of the Luau Show and venue, overseeing all facets of the show production and Food & Beverage operations. This role involves ensuring financial performance and the development of the team. The Director of Luau Operations formulates and executes strategies to achieve business objectives while fostering a culture of outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Entrepreneurial Leadership:

  1. Reports directly to the Director of Food & Beverage and the General Manager.
  2. Identifies business opportunities and aligns the team to implement actions for success.
  3. Creates short- and long-term strategic plans to enhance the profitability of the Luau Show and venue.
  4. Compiles and reviews financial reports, contracts, and P&L statements, reporting performance to the General Manager.
  5. Acts as the primary contact for customer relations and venue management.
  6. Represents the asset to customers and staff.

Operations Management:

  1. Responsible for all operational aspects of the Luau Show and venue.
  2. Oversees weekly scheduling and staffing in accordance with budget guidelines.
  3. Manages time and attendance within the payroll system to meet payroll deadlines.
  4. Enhances financial performance through effective operational practices executed by a well-trained team.
  5. Prepares, monitors, and reports on budgets.
  6. Collaborates closely with Luau Show and F&B staff.
  7. Responsible for hiring, training, and managing both managerial and hourly staff.
  8. Provides developmental coaching to direct reports to meet established goals.
  9. Administers disciplinary actions as necessary.
  10. Directs operations to maximize the effectiveness of service providers.
  11. Manages supply ordering, inventory, and quality control.
  12. Oversees the receipt of invoices for supply orders.
  13. Handles multiple projects related to the maintenance of physical buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  14. Ensures compliance with safety and sanitary standards as per health department regulations and Highgate policies.
  15. Creates departmental policies, budgets, and guidelines, communicating them across departments.
  16. Leads by example to foster high staff morale and a culture of excellence.
  17. Ensures guest relations and Luau Show productions achieve exceptional satisfaction ratings.
  18. Oversees safety, risk management, and the overall appearance and functionality of the venue.
  19. Encourages associate participation to promote best practices.

Marketing and Business Development:

  1. Directs initiatives to expand the Luau Show and venue.
  2. Develops and implements effective marketing strategies.
  3. Creates and manages campaigns to promote the Luau Show and venue, including social media outreach.
  4. Evaluates revenue sources to optimize marketing expenditures.
  5. Allocates the marketing budget and oversees promotional programs.
  6. Manages third-party services, contracts, and agreements to achieve desired outcomes.
  7. Identifies new business opportunities to drive growth for the Luau Show and venue.
  8. Establishes innovative plans for continuous improvement of the Luau Show and venue.
Qualifications

Experience & Skills:

  1. A minimum of 3-4 years of progressive experience in hospitality or a related field; or at least 2 years of relevant experience; or a 2-year college degree.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Windows, approved POS systems, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  3. Previous experience in Luau Show production or related fields, along with knowledge of F&B operations, health department regulations, and liquor laws.
  4. Experience in business and operations management.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
