Key Responsibilities:
- Project Data Analysis: Collect and review detailed plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand project scope, materials, and labor requirements.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates, including material costs, labor costs, equipment costs, and overhead expenses.
- Subcontractor Management: Identify and solicit bids from qualified subcontractors, negotiate contracts, and analyze subcontractor proposals to ensure competitive pricing.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential risks and uncertainties that could impact project costs, including changes in material prices, labor shortages, or unforeseen site conditions.
- Cost Control: Monitor project progress throughout construction to identify any cost variances and take corrective actions as needed.
- Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including cost summaries, project schedules, and other supporting documentation.
- Contract Review: Review and analyze construction contracts to understand project terms, conditions, and financial obligations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with estimating complex projects, such as high-rise buildings or healthcare facilities.
- Knowledge of green building standards and sustainable construction practices.
- Experience with value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
