Expeditors Imports Division:

This division manages all inbound air and ocean shipments for our clients. Collaborating closely with our customs team, domestic ground services, warehouses, clients, and vendors, the Imports Department is dynamic and presents new challenges every day.

Key Responsibilities

An Import Transportation Agent at Expeditors may be responsible for:

  • Facilitating a seamless and timely freight process
  • Accurate and prompt data entry into our operating systems
  • Tracking and tracing air and ocean import files as necessary
  • Ensuring timely delivery of freight to clients for import shipments
  • Sending documents promptly to clients or brokers for customs clearance
  • Accurate and timely billing for clients and service providers
  • Engaging with clients to coordinate their international shipments while meeting service standards
  • Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, including airlines and trucking companies
  • Adhering to compliance regulations at all times, including internal policies and external government regulations
  • Understanding department workflow and continuously seeking opportunities for improved efficiency
  • Meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as per company procedures
  • Managing overseas communications and providing timely responses to internal and external requests
Qualifications

Preferred qualifications for an Import Transportation Agent at Expeditors include:

  • A keen interest in learning or relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven abilities to listen, comprehend, and communicate effectively
  • Proactive approach with excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of air documentation processes is a plus
