Job Summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly skilled Per Diem ALS Instructor to support the delivery of American Heart Association (AHA) classes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in coordinating and conducting AHA classes, ensuring high-quality educational programs that meet the needs of our patients and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Class Coordination: Support and coordinate AHA classes at RWJBarnabas Health campuses and sponsored offsite locations.
  • Training Equipment Maintenance: Maintain training equipment, complete daily reports, and department checklists as outlined by the Director.
  • Program Support: Work with the department to ensure par levels of paperwork, equipment, and tests are maintained at designated locations.
  • Program Development: Assist with various programs, including EMT programs, nursing competencies, mock codes, high school health programs, and community events.
Qualifications
  • Certification and Licensure: Must possess and maintain current certification/license that requires ACLS and/or PALS.
  • Instructor Certification: Must possess ACLS and/or PALS Instructor certification.
  • Driver's License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Criminal Background Check: Driver's license record check and criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience at the advanced life support level.
Scheduling Requirements

Per Diem

Essential Functions
  • Time Management: Arrive on time to scheduled classes as listed on the electronic scheduling system.
  • Pre-Class Preparation: Prepare training equipment and classroom prior to the scheduled start time of class.
  • Positive Affective Presence: Maintain a positive affective presence while conducting educational programs.
  • Accreditation Standards: Conduct programs to the accrediting agency's standards.
  • Course Administration: Complete course paperwork at the conclusion of class and submit rosters electronically.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all training equipment and complete daily reports or department checklists.
  • Training Center Faculty: Teach and monitor new and renewing instructors, if designated a Training Center Faculty Member.
  • Constructive Feedback: Provide constructive feedback while maintaining a positive affective presence.
Additional Responsibilities

The ALS Instructor is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with RWJBH policies, procedures, and practices.

Failure to comply with RWJBH policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action.
