Position Overview:

This role is essential for maintaining the health and welfare of birds in a brooding environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in agriculture or production, although prior experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide care and attention to birds in brooding and growing facilities, ensuring their well-being and monitoring their progress.
Core Duties:
  • Handle young birds and assist with vaccination processes; administer necessary medications (10%)
  • Feed and hydrate birds according to established schedules; conduct daily inspections for water lines, remove deceased birds, and assess overall bird health (25%)
  • Apply necessary pest control measures (10%)
  • Maintain accurate records of feed usage and mortality rates (25%)
  • Sanitize and maintain equipment (10%)
  • Collect laboratory samples on a weekly basis (10%)
  • Weigh birds weekly to assess growth and health; set up brooding materials; perform basic maintenance to ensure optimal living conditions (5%)
  • Conduct maintenance of breakroom facilities and equipment (5%)
Biosecurity and Animal Welfare:

This position operates within a biosecure environment, requiring adherence to strict hygiene protocols, including changing into provided clothing and footwear upon entering the facility. Jewelry is restricted, and candidates must agree to biosecurity measures concerning avian species.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must utilize safe lifting techniques; capable of pushing or pulling up to 300 pounds and lifting 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for the majority of the shift across various surfaces.
  • Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and wet surfaces.
Safety Protocols:

All team members are expected to follow safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
