Position Overview: Academic Neurologist – Behavioral
The Department of Neurology at the University of Missouri – Columbia is in search of a dedicated Cognitive and Behavioral Neurologist to enhance our dynamic and expanding Neurology practice.
As part of a team with two other Behavioral Neurologists, who hold key leadership positions within the institution, you will have the chance to broaden our clinical services and research initiatives. The role involves clinical responsibilities alongside some educational duties, with opportunities to mentor in resident clinics.
Key Highlights:
- Become a member of a neurology department comprising over 30 physicians and neuroscientists.
- Engage in the department's development, contribute to the education of medical students and residents, and explore various academic and research interests.
- Collaborate closely with Health Psychology for psychometric evaluations.
- Access to advanced imaging technologies, including PET and 7T MRI.
- No night shifts required.
- Standard practice hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
- All academic ranks considered based on experience.
Facilities and Resources:
- A specialized 28-bed Neurosciences Center with a 6-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
- A 30-bed Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status.
- NAEC Level IV Epilepsy program.
- DNV-Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center.
- Certified MDA/ALS clinics.
- An accredited Sleep Program.
- An outpatient infusion center.
Academic Programs:
Our academic offerings include a neurology residency program and six ACGME accredited fellowship programs:
- Clinical Neurophysiology
- Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology (dual UCNS certification)
- Sleep Medicine
- Advanced Sleep Medicine
- Vascular Neurology
- Neuro Critical Care (dual UCNS certification)
In addition to clinical roles, the NextGen Precision Health, MU Center for Translational Neuroscience, and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory provide extensive academic and research opportunities. Currently, there are established basic and translational research programs featuring over 30 clinical trials in Neurology.
