Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting patrons in locating library materials, performing related duties, and supporting librarians in developing and maintaining the collection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, responding to their inquiries and needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collection Development: Assist librarians in developing and maintaining the collection, including recommending materials and supporting the selection process.
  • Program Planning and Coordination: Assist in planning, coordinating, and presenting library programs, storytimes, and special events for children and young adults.
  • Circulation and Technical Services: Perform duties related to circulation and technical services, including maintaining periodical collections, processing materials, and assisting with basic troubleshooting of common software products and technologies.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma or GED and an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A minimum of one year of customer service experience is required.
  • Skills and Abilities: Proficient in the use of the Integrated Library System (ILS), ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records, ability to work accurately with attention to detail, and ability to arrange items in alphanumeric and/or subject order.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit and use computer for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, lift and move up to 50 pounds, push book trucks with up to 150 pounds of materials, stand for extended periods, and perform repeated reaching, bending, climbing, and squatting.
  • Travel: Occasional travel by automobile may be required.
