Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and benefits, communicating with insurance companies, and ensuring accurate billing information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits for scheduled appointments
  • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain authorization and resolve billing issues
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient demographic and insurance information
  • Process patient and insurance carrier telephone calls and respond to inquiries
  • Notify patients of any co-payments, cost-shares, or deductibles
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling Department to resolve authorization issues
  • Properly notate all communications with patients and maintain accurate records
  • Assure that all referrals, written authorizations, and authorization numbers are entered into patient records and provided to the billing department
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred, with courses in medical terminology a plus
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate a computer, copier, and FAX machine
  • Ability to set priorities and manage a varying workload
