Job Title: Teaching Assistant Professor in Urban Planning and Sustainability

The University of Pittsburgh's Urban Studies Program invites applications for a Teaching Assistant Professor position in Urban Planning and Sustainability. The successful candidate will teach a 3-3 course load at the intersection of sustainability and planning, supporting the Program's BS in Urban Planning & Geographic Analysis.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses in urban sustainability, introduction to urban and regional planning, and capstone in planning & geographic analysis.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage diverse undergraduate student audiences.
  • Contribute to the program's mission by bringing diverse perspectives and experiences to the classroom.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Geography, Planning, or a related field by the time the appointment begins.
  • Successful undergraduate teaching experience, including courses in neighborhood planning, urban sustainability, and urban & regional planning.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement as an undergraduate instructor and to working effectively with diverse undergraduate student audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pedagogical publications and/or research experience.
  • Successful communication strategies to reach and inform a diverse student population.
