Teaching Assistant Professor in Urban Studies

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant Professor in Urban Studies to join our team at the University of Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in social justice, urban disorder, and urban GIS, as well as contributing to the development of the Urban Studies Program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach a 3-3 course load in Urban Studies, including courses in social justice, urban disorder, and urban GIS.
  • Contribute to the development of the Urban Studies Program, including curriculum design and implementation.
  • Engage in research and scholarship in the area of social justice and urban inequality.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to undergraduate students.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Geography, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Experience in undergraduate teaching, including teaching courses in social justice, urban disorder, and urban GIS.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement as an undergraduate instructor and to working effectively with diverse undergraduate student audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pedagogical publications and/or research experience.
  • Experience in communicating effectively with diverse student populations.
