We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant Professor in Urban Studies to join our team at the University of Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in social justice and urban disorder, as well as contributing to the development of the Urban Studies Program.
Responsibilities:- Teach undergraduate courses in social justice and urban disorder, including Social Justice & the City and the carceral city
- Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the program's goals and objectives
- Contribute to the development of the Urban Studies Program, including advising students and participating in program committees
- Engage in research and scholarship in the area of social justice and urban inequality
- Ph.D. in Geography, Sociology, or a related field
- Experience teaching undergraduate courses in social justice and urban disorder
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement as an undergraduate instructor
- Ability to work effectively with diverse undergraduate student audiences
- Pedagogical publications and/or research in the area of social justice and urban inequality
- Experience with teaching GIS and other spatial analysis techniques
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations
