POSITION SUMMARY
As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients for cooking, which includes portioning, chopping, and properly storing food items. You will also be tasked with retrieving food from freezer storage to allow for safe thawing in the refrigerator. Accurately weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to established recipes or your own culinary judgment. Prepare and cook dishes in accordance with recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and food preparation checklists. Continuously monitor food quality throughout the cooking process.
Conduct taste tests to ensure that food is cooked to perfection, utilizing methods such as tasting, smelling, or using utensils to pierce food items.
Ensure that food is served in appropriate portions, arranged attractively, and garnished as per standards. Serve food in correct portions onto designated receptacles. Utilize kitchen tools safely and effectively. Maintain cleanliness by washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Regularly check and confirm the correct temperature of appliances and food items. Report any discrepancies in product specifications to management. Communicate any support needed during peak service periods.
Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures; report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to management; complete all required safety training and certifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Related Work Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
Supervisory Experience:
No supervisory experience required.
License or Certification:
None required.
