Job Title: Health Information Management Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Information Management Director to join our team at the State of Washington. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the health information management function and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for health information management
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including HIPAA and Joint Commission standards
  • Oversee the planning, direction, supervision, and coordination of the work performed by the HIM Department
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure high-quality performance and compliance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of health information management functions
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field
  • Five years of experience in health information management, including supervisory experience
  • Certification by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Health Information Management or a related field
  • Experience working in a psychiatric hospital or other healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHRs) and health information technology
