UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a skilled Materials Technician to join our team. As a key member of our supply chain, you will be responsible for coordinating the receipt and distribution of medical supplies, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to our clinical departments.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate incoming shipments of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Verify delivery receipts for accuracy and completeness.
  • Unpack and restock supplies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Discard boxes and packaging materials properly.
  • Restock Central Sterile Supply with product in correct bin locations and distribute special request supplies.
  • Prepare case carts for supply transportation and complete case cart pick lists accurately and on time.
  • Inventorize and restock specialty PAR locations for assigned areas.
  • Utilize computer printouts and/or handheld scanners to determine, document, and collect replenished supply quantities.
  • Assist with data entry related to requisitions and supply orders.
  • Answer phone requests and provide alternative products or assist in locating unavailable products.
  • Responsible for the inspection, documentation, and deposition of expired and/or recall products stocked on the shelf daily.
  • Maintain the required log and storage area for all supplies in a clean, neat, and orderly manner.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in hospital or distribution is desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Texas driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift boxes of supplies and place them on shelves and/or carts.
Working Conditions

Good general health and stress coping ability. Full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activity. Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with peers. Possess near acuity for accurate reading.

Security

Compliance with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate enforced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) is a requirement for this position. Federal law requires individuals holding this position to be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption for certain medical, disability, or religious reasons.
