Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Reliability Assessments Engineer to join our team at WECC. As a key member of our Reliability Assessments department, you will play a critical role in promoting Bulk Power System (BPS) reliability by providing technical expertise, leadership, and support to key programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive reliability assessments using commercially available production cost and resource adequacy software.
  • Apply deterministic, probabilistic, and other model types to support system adequacy studies and other reliability assessments.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends affecting the BPS in the Western Interconnection and work with industry groups to address power system reliability needs.
  • Develop and propose new methods for conducting reliability assessments and provide guidance on ensuring data quality and compatibility between planning models.
  • Collaborate with industry associations, regulators, and researchers to identify potential reliability risks and mitigation options.
  • Prepare and present high-quality technical reports supported by rigorous analysis and deliver clear, concise presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support and provide technical leadership to WECC and NERC committees, task forces, and work groups.
  • Mentor other engineers and analysts and work with management to identify opportunities for others to participate in industry initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in power system planning or operations, with a history of identifying emerging reliability risks and leading reliability-related analyses.
  • Extensive experience conducting reliability assessments and developing technical reports.
  • Proficiency in power system modeling tools, including production cost, resource adequacy, and capacity expansion models.
  • Experience working with industry associations, regulators, or researchers and familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Benefits and Compensation

The base salary range for this full-time position is $92,186 - $122,915 + discretionary pay + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level, and individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
